Best Zero Gravity Massage Chairs? Best Heated Massage Chairs?

heating and zero gravity massage chairs

I am fairly surprised by how often I get these questions.

What is the best zero gravity massage chair?

What is the best heated massage chair?

Honestly, this might be the shortest answer I have ever given.

They all have them.

Yes, even the $700 massage chairs you see on Walmart or Temu have heating and zero gravity.

Now, whether they actually work well is a whole different conversation. LOL.

Does Every Massage Chair Have Heat?

For the most part, yes.

Even some of the inexpensive massage chairs around $600 or $700 will advertise heating as one of their features.

But here is what I want to tell you.

When you sit in a fancy, expensive massage chair, you can usually feel the heat on your legs pretty quickly. After that, you may feel some warmth around the lumbar area, although sometimes it is fairly subtle.

So if a $600 massage chair says it has heating, I am willing to bet the heating actually "works" too.

The bigger question is not whether the massage chair has heat.

The better question is how much heat do you actually feel, where is the heat located, and how useful is it during your massage?

That is a completely different conversation.

Some higher end massage chairs have multiple heating areas, while others concentrate the heat around specific areas such as the lower back, legs, or feet.

So when you are comparing heated massage chairs, do not simply look at the word HEATING on the feature list and be done with it.

There is more to it than that.

What About Zero Gravity?

This one gets even more interesting.

A lot of people seem to think zero gravity is some kind of exclusive feature found only on expensive massage chairs.

It is not.

Even relatively inexpensive massage chairs can have a zero gravity position.

The basic idea behind zero gravity is positioning your body so that your knees are raised around or above the level of your heart. This changes the way your body is positioned in the chair and can help distribute your weight more evenly.

The difference is what the chair lets you do with that position.

Some lower priced massage chairs may give you one zero gravity position.

Some give you two.

Some may give you three preset angles.

You will also commonly see chairs positioned around a reclined angle of roughly 165 degrees and no more, depending on the design of the chair.

Then you get into the more expensive massage chairs.

This is where you can start seeing more flexibility.

Some higher end chairs allow you to manually control the recline angle instead of forcing you to choose between two or three preset positions.

That can be a nice feature because everyone has a different body, different height, different preference, and different idea of what feels comfortable.

So What Is the Best Zero Gravity Massage Chair?

This is where I would be careful with the question.

If you are simply asking, which massage chairs have zero gravity?

The answer is almost all of them.

If you are asking, which massage chairs have the best zero gravity experience?

Now we have something worth discussing.

The quality of the massage itself matters.

The way the chair positions your body matters.

How far the chair reclines matters.

How many positions you have matters.

How easily you can adjust those positions matters.

And most importantly, how comfortable you actually feel in the chair matters.

This is one reason I always tell people to try a massage chair before spending several thousand dollars on one.

You can read specifications all day long.

You can compare zero gravity.

You can compare heating.

You can compare 3D and 4D massage mechanisms.

You can compare track designs.

You can compare airbag counts.

But eventually, you have to sit in the chair.

The Feature List Does Not Tell the Whole Story

This is something I wish more people understood before buying a massage chair.

Manufacturers can put a lot of impressive words on a product page.

Zero gravity.

Heat.

3D massage.

4D massage.

Body scan.

Air compression.

Foot rollers.

Bluetooth.

Touchscreen.

The list can get very long.

But these are still massage chairs.

Not feature chairs.

The question I would ask is simple.

Does the massage actually feel good to you?
