Can You Use FSA or HSA Money to Buy a Massage Chair?

FSA HSA Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account

If you are considering to use these funds, you might currently have this and know this more in detail than i do, but just incase you are just applying and getting these funds or at least considering looking into it, let's go over briefly what these are.

FSA stands for Flexible Spending Account. It is an account that allows you to set aside money for certain qualified healthcare expenses.

HSA stands for Health Savings Account. It also allows you to use money for qualified healthcare expenses, and many people have an HSA debit card that works much like a regular debit card.

Now, before you come in ready to swipe that card on a $5,000 to $10,000 massage chair, there is something you should do first.

Talk to your medical provider and talk to your FSA or HSA funding administrator.

Ask them specifically if a massage chair can be used under your particular plan and whether you need any documentation, such as a Letter of Medical Necessity. Every plan can have its own requirements, and we do not want to tell you something is covered when your particular plan says otherwise.

That being said, massage chairs have become pretty widespread as a wellness and health product, and we have had numerous customers come into our showroom and use their FSA or HSA cards with us without any problems.

We have even had situations where a customer's insurance company contacted us directly and funded the purchase on the customer's behalf.

So yes, it does happen.

The important thing is to make sure your particular situation is approved before you purchase.

If your FSA or HSA administrator tells you that you can use the funds, ask them whether you can pay directly with your card or whether you need to purchase the chair first and submit the receipt for reimbursement.

At Orlando Luxury Massage Chairs, we are happy to provide the documentation and receipt you need from your purchase.

We just want to be clear that we cannot determine whether your FSA or HSA will approve your purchase. That decision comes from your plan administrator.

And honestly, that is the safest way to approach it.

You do not want to spend thousands of dollars on a massage chair and then find out afterward that your plan will not reimburse you.

So if you have FSA or HSA funds available and you have been thinking about getting a massage chair, check with your medical provider and your plan administrator first.

Then come see us.

Try the chairs.

Take your time.

And if your FSA or HSA approves it, we will take care of the rest.

After all, if you are going to spend that kind of money on a massage chair, I would rather you know exactly what you are doing before you pull out that card.
